Top End Oil Kits

Let’s talk about remote top-end oil kits and the many remote oil systems available.HSR Top End Oilers

HSR was the first to install a remote top-end oiler on Yamaha-powered race car. I knew there would be a problem when I first saw the standard oil delivery system on the FJ-1200. The application of this engine in a Legends car would require more oil to the cams; much more oil. After a few years went by, others systems appeared on the market with a different oil delivery thought behind them.

We believe ours is still the best and that’s why we install them on the more than 250 we prepare each year, plus the many we sell through UPS to dealers and other engine builders. Perhaps you have seen someone’s car with the oilpan port plumbed into a small cooler then to the top end. Not a bad thought, right? Wrong! That oil has not been finely filtered through a filter yet. We played with the idea way back when, but elected not to do it this way. I wouldn’t run unfiltered oil through my bearings and I am not going to run unfiltered oil through my head and cam journals. The stock oil pressure in the main galley is sufficient enough for a top end oiler, and it is filtered.

Now let’s talk remote oil filter systems. This is an easy one. There are many systems out there, but only one does what ours does. We combine both oil output ports to our double inlet filter, boosting oil pressure and volume, making the system more efficient. By simply coming out of the filter to your cooler back to your engine and you have given your engine a much needed oil pressure boost of 40%. This is needed, in my opinion, for Legend applications. Enough Said!

People are different which is good, how else would you wind up with so many different ideas. Out of these ideas can come a great idea! For twenty-eight years, I have been building race engines for motorcycles. I have been taught by many of the best over the years, and took thoughts and ideas from all of them. I try not to limit myself when it comes to building a good engine. In a small way, all the great tuners and engine builders I have learned from have had a part in building your legend engine. I want to thank them for sharing and working with me over the years and I want to thank you for allowing me to build your legend engine.
